Dental Assistants Recognition Week March 3-10
This year Dr. Mary Bush and Peter Bush presented "Forensic Odontology" at the DARW dinner. This fascinating three hour presentation included cases that were known to the community, the attendees felt as though they were on one of the CSI shows so popular on television.
We also learned that the presenters have developed a program allowing identification through different dental filling materials, such as Tetric and TPH composite resin materials. It was a wonderful and interesting evening, comments were made that the participants would like to do a second part to this.
Unfortunately, Dr. Raymond Miller who was also scheduled to present, was called to active duty on Sunday, March 2 and is in Bagdad. We pray for his and his units safe return to us.
Benco dental's Tom Mcquillen made sure all of the dental assistants in attendance were made to feel special with a beautiful long stem rose, each in a variety of colors to show the diversity of each dental assistant. We thank Tom for his support of dental assisting.

Student Liaisons
Buffalo Dental Assistants Society is pleased to announce that we are beginning a program to have members available to dental assisting students in our area. The idea behind this program is to give the students the name and phone number of a contact so that questions about our organization and being a dental assistant can be answered. The two people who have agreed to do this will get the students the resources they need to have their question answered. For more information please contact:

BDAS held a raffle at the Buffalo Niagara Dental Meeting in October to benefit The Dental Office at Good Neighbors. Volunteer Dentists and staff provide free care on Friday mornings (medical, optical and chiropractic services are also available). Experienced assistants are needed to help chairside or with sterilization/radiographs/organization. Good Neighbors Community Center is located on Jefferson Ave, in a busy, safe facility. They provide basic dental care: exams, x-rays, cleanings, fillings and extractions. All care is free of chare to a community that is in need and is greatly appreciative of service. Hours of operation are Wednesday Mornings and Friday Afternoons. This is a free clinic designed to help those who without the clinic would not receive dental care.
