NYDAA Annual CE Meeting and Business meeting will be held in Waterloo, NY Saturday May 5, 2012 watch for information.
University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine Office of Continuing Education will offer a 12 hour DANB (Dental Assisting National Board) review on Friday May 4, 2012 in conjunction with NYDAA annual session May 5, 2012. This review is to help prepare to take the DANB exam and participants must come prepared. For further information on the DANB review please contact UBSDM/at (716)-829-2320.
During The American Dental Assistants Association Annual Session a number of new and exciting initiatives occurred:
By Laws Changes:
· ADAA voted to allow Student Chapters. They may be organized at any dental assisting program of at least 800 hours in length for the purposes of providing support to student members, enhancing the interaction of students and schools with ADAA locals and States and furthering the objectives of the Association. The name of a Student chapter may be named for the dental assisting program and Affiliation shall be granted upon approval of ADAA. Two ADAA member advisors are required.
· ADAA voted to allow Student District Trustee to serve as a voting member of the board of Trustees, and act as advisor and liaison to the ADAA Student Chapters. Term will be two years and this Trustee may serve on committees. This years student member was chosen by the board. The term will be two years.
· ADAA voted a $10 dues increase. The increase would provide revenue to hire additional staff to run social media such as Face Book, Twitter, My Space, Linden as well as run the web site.
A benefit to members with this dues increase is free continuing education for all dues p paying members.
Resolutions Passed by ADAA
· ADAA Code of Professional Conduct was updated. This was a document
written in 1980. Will be published on ADAA website when recommended
revisions are made
· ADAA Code of Member Conduct was also updated.
· ADAA developed a Position on Workforce issues.
